Winter annual with one to several densely hairy stems. Basal leaves divided twice into small segments, densely hairy; stem leaves divided into small segments once, densely hairy. Flowers bright yellow to almost white. Fruit long-stalked , elongated but short, several seeded. Reproduces from dark red seeds. Occurs in sandy soils in turf, fields and disturbed areas. Found in Virginia, south into Florida, west to Wyoming, Colorado, and California and inland up through Montana. Also found in southern Canada.
