Erect perennial with smooth leaves and stems. Leaves thin, smooth margined, oval, arranged in two rows on the branchlets or singly in spirals on the main stem. Flowers inconspicuous. Fruit green, smooth, round on long stalks from leaf axils. Reproduces by seed. Found in Alabama, Georgia and throughout Florida. Also found in Australia and Hawaii. Native to Africa and the Mascarene Islands.
