Prostrate summer annual with numerous smooth, branched stems. Leaves light green in color, smooth, spoon-shaped, and arranged in clusters of two to five on slender stalks from leaf axils, petal five. Reproduces by tiny, reddish seed. Usually a problem only during turfgrass establishment. Found throughout most of the United States. Also found in Canada, throughout Mexico into Central and South America, Africa and Asia.
