Taprooted annual with erect to sprawling, very hairy, branched stems. Leaves with an unequal base, teeth on margins, hairy. Flowers tiny in clusters at stem tip and from base of leaves, hairy. Reproduces by seed. Occurs in disturbed and waste areas. Found from South Carolina south throughout Florida and west to Alabama. Also found in the West Indies, Mexico, Central and South America.
