Annual with fleshy, creeping stems, rooting at nodes. Leaves fleshy, alternate, narrowly lanced-shaped. Leaf sheaths with soft hairs on upper margins. Flowers in somewhat open clusters, blue to purple. Reproduces by seed. Occurs in turf areas and moist woods. Occurs from North Carolina through Florida, west in Texas. Also in Asia.
